On August 27, 2018 the U.S. Department of State published Determinations Regarding Use of Chemical Weapons by Russia Under the Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act of 1991 (the – “Determinations”). The Determinations provide for the imposition of a number of new sanctions on Russia.

Additionally, the U.S. Congress is currently considering two bills that also propose new sanctions, namely the bill of the Defending American Security from Kremlin Aggression Act of 2018 and the bill of the Energy Security Cooperation with Allied Partners in Europe Act of 2018.

Moreover, on July 30, 2018 the European Union adopted Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2018/1072 extending the list of entities subject to sanctions.
