Counsel
Josephine Hage Chahine, co-heading of Jeantet’s Middle East Desk, acts as counsel in arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and institutional (ICC, CIAP, CMAP, LCIA, CRCICA, DIAC, CCJA, etc.) and more specifically in the energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors, international sales, transport, construction, joint ventures and banking.
She also acts in post-arbitration proceedings (annulment, enforcement and suspension of enforcement of arbitral awards) before French courts. She also acts as arbitrator and is regularly appointed administrative secretary of the arbitral tribunal.
Prior to joining Jeantet, Joséphine trained with Hage Chahine law firm in Beirut, Lebanon, where she practiced commercial litigation. She then joined Leboulanger & Associés in Paris (France), where she practiced for more than 5 years and gained extensive experience in international arbitration.
She currently teaches data protection at IESEG school of management as well as international arbitration at the Paris Bar School (EFB) and at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas (France) within the Masters II, Litigation, Arbitration and ADR. She has also taught civil law, corporate law and payment and credit instruments’ law at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas (France) and banking law and bankruptcy law at the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne (France).
She is a regular speaker at arbitration conferences and training workshops. She has also published various articles on arbitration and mediation.
She is fluent in Arabic, French and English.
