A member of the Paris Bar, Luca Chevallier advises companies on the full range of issues relating to industrial property rights (patents/SPCs, trademarks, designs), trade secrets, and related unfair competition and free-riding matters.
He works primarily on patent litigation for clients across a range of sectors (life sciences, chemistry, mechanical engineering, telecommunications), before the French courts and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
In recent years, he has assisted leading clients in the pharmaceutical sector (small molecules, biologics, formulations, second medical use) and the medical devices sector.
His diverse experience and understanding of the regulatory landscape also enable him to handle matters relating to supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and the market entry of medicines and medical devices.
Luca also assists clients with trademark infringement and invalidity actions before civil and criminal courts and intellectual property offices (INPI, EUIPO), as well as with internet law and AI issues relating to intellectual property.
Lastly, Luca advises clients on the negotiation and drafting of contracts involving intellectual property rights and technology transfers (licensing, assignment, R&D collaboration/consortium agreements), particularly in connection with major transactions (acquisitions, fundraising, IPOs, joint ventures, spin-offs, infrastructure projects, etc.).
Luca is head of academic affairs for trainee lawyers at the École de Formation du Barreau de Paris (EFB), where he teaches intellectual property law.
