Our clients are key players in the gas, oil, mining, water and electricity sectors in Europe, Africa in the Arab countries and include State owners of resources or sponsors of major projects, operators, owners, private companies, banks, national or international organisations.

Our team advises them in their transactions and disputes, in particular:

• Contracts and project financing involving oil, gas, mines, electricity, and renewable energies
•  Deregulation and privatisation operations
• Arbitration of national or international disputes – International centre for the settlement of disputes relating to investments (CIRDI), Common court of justice and arbitration (CCJA), International chamber of commerce (CCI), ad hoc arbitration.
  

The department is regularly contacted by governments to draw up legislation with regard to mining and oil, particularly in Africa and the Arab countries.

The team leads the Energy Law Group (ELG), a working group founded by Thierry Lauriol in 1993, which includes over 220 lawyers specialised in national and European law on energy and natural resources. Its members meet twice a year to exchange their experiences and work together on specific questions of law or on problems encountered by the energy sector. They provide group expertise to companies, banks, Governments, local authorities and institutions.
