Competition law constitutes one of the historical foundations of the firm: Fernand-Charles Jeantet was one of the fathers of the 1945 decree which created economic law in France.
Made up of specialist lawyers who view themselves as generalists in economic law, our team handles all areas of competition law, from the most classic to the most innovative, both in litigious and non-litigious matters. We deal with all aspects of cases, from investigations and resulting litigation to pleading before both national and European judicial and administration authorities, particularly in matters concerning:
- Anti-competitive practices (cartels, vertical restraints, abuse of dominant position)as well as issues concerning State subsidies, deregulation, distribution networks;
- Control of concentrations (feasibility studies, preparation of notification files, negotiation of possible corrective measures with supervisory authorities, coordination of multiple notifications to different national authorities, including outside the European Union).
- Compensation claims, drafting compliance programmes and competition law training policies, implementing settlement and leniency procedures;
- Criminal aspects of economic law (illicit agreements carrying criminal penalties, but also, more generally, criminal competition law).
When dealing with assisting in defining relevant markets, quantifying economic damages or evaluating the effect on competition of structural practices or operations, the team can, whenever necessary, rely on the expertise of recognised economists and law professors who work closely with the firm.
Through their publications, teaching and also regular contributions to the work of specialised groups that bring together representatives of the competition authorities, academics and legal practitioners, the lawyers at JeantetAssociés actively participate in the continuing evolution of economic law.
